Each gear is made from precision machined and hardened steel and features easy to read laser etched timing marks. To reduce weight and rotational inertia, the center hub is machined from 7075 aluminum that is hard anodized for durability, and features Skunk2's No-Slip 6-bolt design.

When compared to Honda OE iVTEC gears, Skunk2 intake cam gear significantly reduces weight and rotational inertia thus improving engine response and reducing any timing drift.
